The 314 handlebar was developed specifically for the Gravelbike. The gravel handlebar builds on the ergonomic concepts of the front sweep, the angular grip surface and the maximized contact surface of the 314. With a 25 mm rise and 14 ° drop bar flare, the handlebar additionally takes into account the requirements of the ride in the terrain.

Maximum Surface

The flattened and forward-swept top section of the handlebar creates a maximum contact area. The result: a secure grip, even pressure distribution – and noticeably more control, comfort, and confidence on long gravel rides or rough terrain. For a ride that stays smooth, even when the ground isn’t.

The wave-shaped rise on the front of the handlebar forms a flat, slightly angular surface – perfectly matching the natural bend of your fingers. This detail ensures a more secure grip and better bike control, especially on long rides or technical terrain.

When choosing the right handlebar width for your gravel bike, comfort, control, and personal preference all come into play. A handlebar that’s too narrow can feel unstable off-road – too wide, and it may affect your riding efficiency.

To strike the right balance, we recommend: Shoulder width + 2 cm = optimal handlebar width

This extra width adds stability and control on rough terrain – without compromising comfort.
Tip: Measure your shoulder width by taking the distance between the outer edges of your acromion (shoulder bones).

Frontsweep

Natural Wrist Position

Tingling or numb fingers on long rides? Often, it’s due to overstretched wrists. In a neutral position, our wrists naturally align straight with the forearm – and that’s exactly what the 314 gravel handlebar supports. Unlike MTB bars with backsweep (ideal for wide arm positions), a gravel dropbar needs the opposite: a 10° frontsweep. This angle brings the hands into alignment for narrower, shoulder-width positions – preventing wrist strain and keeping your fingers feeling fresh, even after hours in the saddle.

Matching the 614 ERGOWAVE® active 2.1 saddle, the Gravel segment now gets a SQlab handlebar. The concept of the Frontsweep, the compact geometry, the flat and angular shape is also present here, as with our road bike handlebar 312 R Carbon. However, the 314 handlebar has a 25 mm Rise, which allows a comfortable riding position. The 14° flare provides additional control in technical terrain and is designed to not affect the position of the brake levers.

In terms of ergonomics, in contrast to our MTB handlebars we rely on a 10 ° front sweep, which decreases towards the end of the handlebar and thus offers the perfect ergonomics. All contact surfaces are optimized down to the last detail:

Grip security: The 14 ° flare provides additional control in technical terrain and is designed in a way, that the brake levers do not tilt, hereby the brake is always accessible.
Comfort: 25mm Rise for a comfortable and more upright sitting position on long distances. 
Ergobar:  The Ergobar is a wave-shaped elevation on the top part of the bar. This results in a flat, slightly angular underside of the handlebar. Fits perfectly to the angled, bent fingers.
Angular and Areal: Thanks to the flattened outer surface, the handlebar offers a grip in the lower position and at the same time provides a secure hold in various riding situations.
Maximum Surface: The area which is flattened at the top and extended far forward. This allows the fingers to safely enclose the handlebar and at the same time provides maximum grip.
