Key Features

Three-Dimensional Fit

Grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally in S, M and L. The result is a contact surface that matches the hand from the start.

Maximum Support Wing

The pronounced wing provides the largest support surface within the SQlab comfort range. The slightly inclined grip platform and raised outer side stabilise the hand and distribute pressure evenly.

Control & Damping

The Ergobar creates a tactile edge for intuitive finger positioning, while soft lamellas absorb vibrations for a controlled, comfortable ride feel.

Balanced Upright Comfort

Developed for bikes with a distinctly upright riding position, the SQlab 721 2.0 provides maximum support at the handlebar. Its ergonomic wing shape, defined grip platform and raised outer support work together to create a calm, stable hand position – ideal for city riding, daily routes and relaxed leisure rides.

Ergonomic Support Wing

The pronounced ergonomic wing offers the largest support surface within the SQlab comfort grip range. It enlarges the contact area and distributes pressure broadly across the hand.

The slightly inclined grip platform follows the natural resting position of the hands in an upright posture, while the raised outer side absorbs load where the hand can stabilise best. Together, these elements create a defined yet relaxed hand position – especially suited for bikes with a high handlebar position.

Three-Dimensional Sizing System

The SQlab 721 2.0 is available in sizes S, M and L and follows our three-dimensional sizing concept: grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally with size. This ensures that the contact surface, circumference and support area precisely match different hand sizes.

The result is a grip that feels natural from the start and provides stable support without forcing the hand into position.

Shock-Absorbing Lamella Structure

Comfort is shaped not only by geometry but also by surface structure. The integrated lamella pattern provides controlled flexibility and noticeable vibration damping on cobblestones and uneven urban surfaces.

Positioned in the upper thumb area, the lamellas help manage repetitive load by allowing slight material movement before impacts reach the hand. The result is a calmer handlebar feel and reduced stress around the base joint of the thumb.

Extended Grip Options & Secure Control

The 721 2.0 is compatible with Innerbarends® 410 and 411 2.0, allowing an additional hand position without changing the cockpit layout. This creates variation in hand support while keeping the brakes within easy reach at all times.

The grip body is designed for high grip security. The defined wing shape, raised outer support and tactile Ergobar underneath work together to stabilise the hand. The Ergobar forms a wave-shaped tactile edge that aligns with the natural finger contours, improving grip confidence even on uneven surfaces.

The result is a secure and composed ride feel – whether commuting through the city or cruising on relaxed weekend rides.

SQlab Lab 2025

Pressure Mapping in the SQlab lab

Conventional grips often concentrate load in the centre of the palm – where sensitive nerve pathways pass through the wrist. SQlab pressure mapping shows how peak loads can occur in this zone.

The 721 2.0 is shaped to redistribute this load by enlarging the support surface and guiding pressure toward more stable contact areas. This significantly reduces peak pressure in sensitive regions.

The result is a balanced pressure pattern and a naturally supported hand position – particularly important in upright riding positions where more weight rests on the hands.

Precise Pressure Measurement for Optimized Ergonomics
In our laboratory, we analyze pressure distribution at the hand to refine contact points and reduce peak loads.

The result: grips designed for a precise fit and a noticeably balanced riding feel.

Analyzing pressure distribution

In a direct comparison test with a conventional comfort grip, the 721 2.0 showed no localized pressure in the carpal tunnel area. The measured average surface pressure was 10.5 kPa – approximately 55% lower than the comparison grip (23.5 kPa).

The raised outer edge shifts the load toward the less sensitive outer edge of the hand. Sensitive structures such as nerves and blood vessels in the palm are therefore constructively considered.

In the tested comparison grip, pressure was distributed more strongly across the palm – including the area of the carpal tunnel, where major nerve pathways are located.

Assembly Instruction

The 721 2.0 grips are built for riders using bikes with an upright riding position – whether for running errands, city riding or relaxed leisure trips. Designed to provide maximum support at the handlebar, they combine a large contact area, stable control and vibration damping in one cohesive ergonomic concept.

Available in sizes S, M and L, the 721 2.0 follows SQlab’s three-dimensional size system: grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally to match different hand sizes. The result is a contact surface that fits the hand from the start and supports it naturally.

The pronounced ergonomic wing provides the largest support area within the SQlab comfort grip range. It enlarges the contact surface and distributes pressure broadly across the hand. A slightly angled grip platform follows the natural resting position of the hands in an upright posture, while the raised outer edge absorbs load and enhances stability.

The Ergobar underneath creates a tactile edge that aligns with the natural shape of the fingers, providing intuitive hold and confident control. Soft, seamlessly integrated lamellas add damping and improve comfort, especially on cobblestones and uneven urban surfaces.

Compatible with Innerbarends® 410 and 411 2.0, the 721 2.0 allows for an additional hand position. An integrated chip interface replaces the traditional bar plug and enables a clean handlebar finish or easy mirror installation when required.

Key Features:

  • Ergonomically Shaped Maximum Support Surface - Extra-wide wing design enlarges the contact area and spreads pressure more evenly across the hand, helping relieve stress around sensitive zones such as the ulnar nerve.
  • Three-Dimensional Size System (S / M / L) - Grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally to match different hand sizes for a precise ergonomic fit.
  • Ergobar for Natural Finger Positioning - Wave-shaped underside creates a tactile edge that aligns with the natural shape of the fingers and enhances grip security.
  • Shock-Absorbing Lamella Structure - Soft lamellas provide vibration damping and improve overall grip comfort on rough city surfaces.
  • Raised Outer Edge for Stability - Supports the outer hand area and adds control by absorbing load where the hand can stabilise best.
  • Compatible with Innerbarends® 410 & 411 2.0 - Allows an additional hand position for varied support during longer rides.
  • Integrated Chip Interface - Replaces the traditional bar plug and enables a clean handlebar finish or easy rearview mirror installation.
