Key Features

Three-Dimensional Fit

Grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally in S, M and L.

Ergonomic Support Wing

The shaped wing enlarges the support area and spreads pressure evenly.

Control & Damping

The Ergobar provides tactile guidance for the fingers while gripping, while soft lamellas damp vibrations.

Balanced Touring Comfort

Developed for trekking bikes with a moderately upright position, the SQlab 702 2.0 supports the hand where needed without restricting movement. The ergonomic wing shape, downsweep and raised outside work together to create a stable, controlled hand position – on smooth asphalt as well as rougher terrain.

Ergonomic Support Wing

The ergonomically shaped wing enlarges the contact area and supports the hand across a wide surface. Instead of concentrating pressure in smaller zones, the load is distributed more evenly, creating a stable and balanced support platform.

The slightly angled grip surface follows the natural resting position of the hand, while the raised outer side absorbs load where the hand can stabilise best. Together, these elements create a defined yet relaxed hand position that feels secure without restricting movement – especially on longer rides and varied terrain.

Three-Dimensional Sizing System

The SQlab 702 2.0 is available in sizes S, M and L and follows our three-dimensional sizing concept: grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally with the size. This ensures that the contact surface, circumference and support area match different hand sizes precisely.

The result is a grip that feels natural from the start, offering stable support without forcing the hand into position.

Shock-Absorbing Lamella Structure

Comfort is not only defined by shape, but also by surface structure. The integrated lamella pattern adds controlled flexibility to the grip body and provides noticeable vibration damping on rough roads, cobblestones or gravel.

The lamellas are positioned in the upper thumb area, where repetitive load often concentrates. By allowing slight material movement in this zone, impacts are absorbed before they reach the hand.

The result is a smoother, more composed handlebar feel and reduced stress around the base joint of the thumb – especially on longer or uneven rides.

Extended Grip Options & Secure Control

The 702 2.0 is compatible with Innerbarends® 410 and 411 2.0, allowing an additional hand position without changing the cockpit layout. This alternative grip position creates variation in hand support and can enhance comfort on longer rides – while keeping the brakes within easy reach at all times.

The grip body itself is designed to ensure a high level of grip security. The defined wing shape and raised outer support create a stable contact platform, while the Ergobar on the underside forms a wave-shaped tactile edge that aligns with the natural contours of the fingers. Instead of wrapping around a fully round surface, the fingers find a defined support line, improving grip confidence and control – even on uneven terrain.

The result is a controlled, secure ride feel – whether cruising on asphalt or navigating rougher surfaces.

SQlab Lab 2025

Pressure Mapping in the SQlab lab

Conventional grips tend to concentrate load in the centre of the palm – directly in the area where sensitive nerve pathways pass through the wrist. SQlab pressure mapping shows how high peak loads can occur in this zone.

SQlab grips are shaped to redistribute this load. By enlarging the support surface and guiding pressure toward more stable contact areas, peak pressure in sensitive regions is significantly reduced – and even lower with the 702 2.0.

The result is a more balanced pressure pattern and a hand position that feels naturally supported over long distances – without the typical tingling or numb sensation many riders are familiar with.

Precise Pressure Measurement for Optimized Ergonomics
In our laboratory, we analyze pressure distribution at the hand to refine contact points and reduce peak loads.

The result: grips designed for a precise fit and a noticeably balanced riding feel.

Analyzing pressure distribution

In a direct comparison test with a conventional comfort grip, the 702 2.0 showed no localized pressure in the carpal tunnel area. The measured average surface pressure was 18 kPa – approximately 47% lower than the comparison grip (34 kPa).

The raised outer edge shifts the load toward the less sensitive outer edge of the hand. Sensitive structures such as nerves and blood vessels in the palm are therefore constructively considered.

In the tested comparison grip, pressure was distributed more strongly across the palm – including the area of the carpal tunnel.

Assembly Instruction

The 702 2.0 grips are built for riders who use their trekking bike for daily routes and extended tours alike. Designed for a moderately upright riding position, they combine ergonomic support, stable control and vibration damping in one cohesive concept.

Available in sizes S, M and L, the 702 2.0 follows SQlab’s three-dimensional size system: grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally to match different hand sizes. The result is a contact surface that fits the hand from the start.

The ergonomic wing enlarges the support area and distributes pressure over a wider surface. A slightly angled grip platform follows the natural hand position, while the raised outer edge absorbs load and enhances stability.

The pronounced Ergobar underneath creates a tactile edge that aligns with the natural shape of the fingers, providing intuitive hold and confident control. Soft, seamlessly integrated lamellas add damping and improve comfort, especially on rough surfaces.

Compatible with Innerbarends® 410 and 411 2.0, the 702 2.0 allows for an additional hand position. An integrated chip interface replaces the traditional bar plug and enables a clean handlebar finish or easy mirror installation when required.

Key Features:

  • Ergonomically Shaped Support Surface - Broad wing design enlarges the contact area and spreads pressure more evenly across the hand, helping relieve stress around sensitive zones like the ulnar nerve.
  • Three-Dimensional Size System (S / M / L) - Grip length, diameter and wing size grow proportionally to match different hand sizes for a precise ergonomic fit.
  • Ergobar for Natural Finger Positioning - Wave-shaped underside creates a tactile edge that aligns with the natural shape of the fingers and enhances grip security.
  • Shock-Absorbing Lamella Structure - Soft lamellas provide vibration damping and improve overall grip comfort on uneven surfaces.
  • Raised Outer Edge for Stability - Supports the outer hand area and adds control by absorbing load where the hand can stabilise best.
  • Compatible with Innerbarends® 410 & 411 2.0 - Allows an additional hand position for varied support during longer rides.
  • Integrated Chip Design - Replaces the traditional bar plug and enables a clean handlebar finish or easy rearview mirror installation.
