How To Measure

SQlab Lab 2025

Step 1

Cut a piece of a piece of cardboard into a roughly 8.5" x 11'' size. Wrap a piece of tin foil around it, as shown in the video above. Place the cardboard/foil card on a smooth, firm surface.

Sit upright on the card and pull yourself down with both hands as firmly as possible to create a clear imprint.

Step 2

Mark the imprints with a pen and measure the distance in centimenters (cm) from center to center between your sit bone marks. If the measurement is between two values, always round up.

No ruler, no problem. A measuring card is included in the downloadable measuring kit link above.

Step 3

Your ideal saddle width is based on two factors: your measured sit bone distance and your preferred riding posture or bike type.

Choose your bicycle type from the table in the downloadable PDF and add the corresponding value to the measured sit bone distance for the individual saddle width.

Sit bone width + area of use = your individual saddle fit

More Comfort – Less Pressure

Why Sit Bone Measurement Matters

Your sit bones are the key contact point between your body and the saddle. Only when they are fully supported can pressure be evenly distributed. If the saddle is too narrow, your body weight shifts to more sensitive areas like the perineum – which can lead to numbness, pain, or even long-term issues. The SQlab sit bone measurement helps you find the ideal saddle width – tailored to your anatomy and riding posture.
