Saddles

Our bike saddles offer ergonomics and performance on every ride

The bike saddle is one of the most important contact points for comfortable, efficient and pain-free riding. It connects the body directly to the bicycle and bears a large part of the body weight. It doesn't matter whether you're riding a Triathlon bike, going on long tours with a trekking bike or exploring new trails on a mountain bike. The right saddle determines comfort, efficiency and riding enjoyment when cycling.

We offer the right saddle for every area of use , from maximum comfort with city bike saddles over robust MTB saddles to maximum performance with our road bike saddles and many more.

How do I find the right saddle (and size) for me?

The right (size of a) bike saddle is depending on the seating position and the respective area of use. Sporty riders with a strongly forward-leaning upper body posture have a reduced distance between the sit bones. In a more upright sitting position, as is often the case with trekking or city bikes, the distance between the sit bones increases. Therefore different saddle widhts are necessary her for the best sitting position and pressure distribution. With our saddle width system, you can easily find the saddle that perfectly matches your individual sit bone width for maximum comfort and performance.

An additional ergonomic feature of SQlab bicycle saddles is the step saddle form. The SQlab step saddle technology is designed so that the sit bones rest stably on the raised middle step for the sensitive perineal area to be specifically relieved. The raised rear keeps the pelvis in a natural, stable position without sliding backwards or shifting sideways.

With our measurement kit, you can precisely determine your sit bone distance and identify the ideal saddle fit, ensuring an ergonomic riding position and long‑lasting comfort on every ride.

How do I properly install and replace my saddle?

Changing a bicycle saddle is easy, but it should be done carefully. Here’s how:

  1. Loosen the old saddle: Use an Allen key to open the screws of the saddle clamp and remove the saddle.

  2. Insert the new saddle: Place the saddle rails in the center of the clamp and tighten the screws only hand‑tight at first.

  3. Align: Adjust the saddle to a horizontal position first. SQlab saddles should be positioned according to their specifications to achieve optimal pressure relief.

  4. Check the height: Check and adjust the saddle height. Only then tighten the screws with the recommended torque.

  5. Test ride: Take a short test ride to see whether the tilt and position are correct or still need adjustment.

You can find more details in our “SQlab Bike Saddle Setup" Guide.

Why are all SQlab saddles unisex models?

Many manufacturers traditionally differentiate between women's and men's bike saddles. This classification is often based on general assumptions about pelvic shape or physique, but rarely does justice to individual anatomy.

A key principle at SQlab is, that not gender is decisive, but anatomy. That is why SQlab has a unisex saddle concept and bike saddles for men and women work according to the same anatomic principle.

Regardless of gender, body weight is always transferred to the bike saddle via the sit bones when cycling. This is exactly where our ergonomic concepts come in. The sit bone distance is different for everybody. Measuring your sitbones leads to finding the saddle that is right for you. That is the reason why every SQlab bike saddle is available in several widths rather than gender specific.

More frequently asked questions on bike saddles

SQlab saddles are ergonomically precision-shaped and have a tight padding. This often feels different from conventional saddles. It is completely normal for your body to need to adjust to the new sitting position and feel during the first few rides.

It can take up to three weeks, depending on the model and how often you ride.

This adjustment period is an important step towards long-term comfort.

That's why we offer a 30-day trial period for our saddles!

Yes, they distribute pressure better and are more comfortable with long and frequent riding. You can learn more about this on our Saddle Padding Concept page.

This is often due to incorrect installation or an unsuitable saddle width or shape. The shape, angle and mounting height of the saddle are as essential for an ergonomic ride as choosing the correct saddle size based on your individual sit bone distance.

Discomfort can occur in different ways:

  • Numbness or perinneal pressure: Often results from too much pressure on soft tissue areas. A saddle that doesn’t match your anatomy or is tilted incorrectly can compress nerves and reduce blood flow.

  • Pain on the sitbones: This frequently occurs when the saddle shape or padding does not properly support the bony structures, causing the sit bones or pubic rami to take excessive pressure.

  • Coccyx pain: A pronounced coccyx can cause pain and problems, if a saddle has not enough of a relief area.

At SQlab, our ergonomic concepts are designed specifically to address these issues. The right saddle width size and ergonomic shape help to minimize soft‑tissue pressure and improve long‑distance comfort.
For deeper insights into these topics, you can explore our dedicated technology pages, where we explain saddle width, pressure distribution and more in detail.

The right bike saddle depends on your sitting position, area of use and sit bone distance. We offer saddles for all areas of use in different sizes.

Use our product advisor on top of the page for the perfect saddle for your bike and riding style.

The height, angle and position must work together and be adjusted correctly. Only then will the bicycle saddle be adjusted correctly and reduce pain when cycling. You can find more detailed instructions in our assembly instructions.
