Lack of grip security while cycling

Why a lack of grip safety can be a problem

A secure and comfortable grip on the handlebars increases control and safety on the bike.

When this stability is missing, hand fatigue and discomfort quickly arise – and the risk of riding errors and accidents increases.

We make the difference

Where does the problem lie?

A firm and ergonomic grip is essential for steering the bike safely and maintaining control in every situation. Without sufficient grip security, the hands fatigue more quickly, pain develops – and steering ability decreases. Especially off-road or under demanding conditions, the loss of control can become dangerous. SQlab designs ergonomic MTB and E-MTB grips that combine stability, comfort, and maximum control – for a safe and confident ride.

Lack of grip safety

1. Grip size

The optimal fit is crucial for comfort and a secure grip.

A bicycle grip that is too large or too small can cause various risks: Insecurity when gripping, fatigue and discomfort, limited control, reaction time and comfort restrictions. To ensure a comfortable, safe and efficient riding experience, it is important to determine the grip width before buying grips and then select the bicycle grips according to the hand size and individual preferences of the rider.

2. The shape of the grip

The grip must not only fit the hand but also the riding style.

A lack of grip in wet or muddy conditions, early onset of fatigue, pressure points and pain, lack of vibration damping that can lead to numbness and loss of comfort. A grip that is not carefully designed for the specific riding style can lead to a significant loss of comfort. SQlab offers the right grip for every type of riding, in different sizes to meet the diverse and varied needs and requirements of cyclists.

3. The relief wing does not fit

The relief wing must be correctly dimensioned.

The proper sizing of the relief wings is crucial for optimal functionality. Oversized wings can hinder gripping and braking. Conversely, undersized wings may fail to relieve pressure on nerves. Short wings can create a pressure edge, potentially blocking the carpal tunnel. We design our relief wings based on hand size and intended use, ensuring optimal placement, support, and relief.

Advanced Pressure Analysis for Optimal Grip

Data-Driven Comfort and Performance

To refine our products even further, we utilize advanced pressure measurement technology during development. This allows us to analyze how pressure is distributed across the hand and make precise adjustments to optimize comfort and performance. The result is a grip that minimizes fatigue, enhances control, and supports long-lasting rides—ensuring cyclists feel confident and comfortable no matter the terrain or distance.
